developing a wardrobe
I got this book, Detail’s Men’s Style Manual to help me develop a grown up wardrobe.
I like Saks Fifth Avenue Men’s Store, Wilkes Bashford, Bluefly, and Dapper Men’s store in Oakland.
Top of the line seems to be made to order or bespoke clothing from Turnbull & Asser, Brioni, Charvet, John Lobb anyone from Savile Row in the UK. Other brands that seem cool are Lacoste, 7 for All Mankind, American Apparel, Paul Frank, Corneliani, Canali.
As far as the clothes go, the book provides a checklist: get two suits one navy, one gray, a navy blazer, gray pants, straight leg jeans, white dress shirts, other colored dress shirts, polo shirts, a couple sweaters, black and brown belt, black and brown shoes, black socks, a couple ties, overcoat, etc. I’m still working through the list.
Ask Andy seems to be good site to ask about Men’s clothes. The English Cut is a cool blog from a Savile Row tailor. I like Oxford Tailor in San Francisco for alterations.

Got any recommendations for normal, non-snooty folks? Prada isn’t in most people’s budget.

Normal, non-snooty folks don’t visit my web site. ;-) There’s nothing wrong with Old Navy, Gap, Ralph Lauren/Polo, Calvin Klein, Timberland, Ecko, etc.
