- The Wine Mine - low cost, good wine
- Marc 49 - a restaurant wine/bar in Temescal, opened last week
- The Trappist - Belgian beer bar on Broadway
- Luka’s Taproom & Lounge - Oakland’s new “it” place, not sure
- Water Lounge and Raw Bar - Might be too hip and expensive for me
