A couple of ideas:

I'll second your recommendation of the Farmers Market and the Ferry Building

For great casual non-touristy food, the Zuni Cafe on Market is an excellent spot.

I've never taken one, but everyone seems to love the Wok-Wiz walking tours of Chinatown

On a nice summer weekend day, a trip down to Half Moon Bay is always enjoyable.

And if they're good folks, they can always stop by my house ;-)

Ideas:

Exploratorium: http://www.exploratorium.com/eclipse/2006/time_help.html
- De Young Museum in the Park (awesome building -- lunch at Park Chalet would top it off nicely)
- Calder Exhibit at the SFMoMa (its open late on Thursdays)
- Tres Agaves (great Mexican food + Tequila bar)
- Haight Street (Not that I endorse this...but some people enjoy walking around it)

I will let you know if I think of more.
